dATitleCleaner RELEASED- Woah, 2 journals in less than 2 days, how unlike me
Anyway, I just finished my very first GreaseMonkey script! Actually, I just wrote my very first JavaScript script. So here's the disclaimer: the script may be ugly, there might be better ways in writing it, but I have no clue. It does however work just the way it should.
So what does it do?
Well, it replaces all titles of nearly all deviantART pages to one coherent and shortened style. Some examples:
old: rotane on deviantART ... new: dA: rotane
old: rotane's deviantART Gallery ... new: dA: rotane: Gallery
old: deviantART: rotane: Journal ... new: dA: rotane: Journal
old: deviantART: Messages ... new: dA: Messages
old: deviantART Today ... new: dA: Today
old: News ... new: dA: News
...I just didn't touch the dAmn pages, I'll leave that to dAmn.extend.
So, what do you need?
- Firefox
- GreaseMonkey
- and the script itself:
Right click here and select Install User Script from the context menu (if you just installed GreaseMonkey, you'll have to restart Firefox first).
Now, since dA v5 is still in development, parts of this script will have to be updated sooner or later. Just watch this space. Also, feel free to contact me if you find any pages I missed, to suggest something cool, or to tell me I totally screwed up the JavaScript
Update 1:
Not even 5 hours and there's the first update: a deviant's own prints and store pages would just display "deviantART" in the title, now with the script it actually tells you something like "dA: rotane: Prints" (if I had a prints-account, that is...). There's only one minor thing: since the script extracts the username from the URL, all capitals are lost. Meaning, if my username was ROTane, the script would turn it into rotane.
Update 2:
Added a deviant's journal sub-page to change "rotane's deviantART journal" to "dA: rotane: journal", and also added Browse pages, e.g. "Browse deviantART: Traditional Art" becomes "dA: Browse: Traditional Art".
Update 3:
Added Activity and Polls sub-pages, as well as updated the Browse page.
This script has his own deviation now - get it here
Version conflict:
*ayembee's deviantLINK 2.50 and later versions includes a new feature that does pretty much the same as this script, only he choses a "DA: something" format, while my script creates "dA: something" (mind the suble difference). His extension also overwrites my script, so in case you use both, you can disable the new deviantLINK feature in its preferences. Or remove my userscript.
Planned features:
-
- Make "dA" a variable, so it's easy for you to change it to anything you want.
Version history:
v0.5 ... 2006.12.27 - added Activity and Polls sub-page, updated Browse
v0.4 ... 2006.09.21 - added Browse and deviant's journal sub-pages
v0.3 ... 2006.09.04 - added deviant's prints and store pages
v0.2 ... 2006.09.04 - initial release
v0.1 ... 2006.08.20 - private testing
... tested with Firefox 1.5/2.0 and GreaseMonkey 0.6.6.

we will fall victim to our own technology, continuing to wire ourselves into our computers, untill one day, deep into the future, we will have no bodies, for we will not need them! instead we will be brains that are kept in liquid storage jars that have cables comming out of them...
permentantly wired to the net, or whatever game we desire to play.
and then one day, the Janitor, or plumber... or the person who maintains the servers, will accidently trip the power cord...
EVERYBODY DIES!!!!!
and that's how our species will come to an end
[n.b. I swear by my lawyers that i have never heard of a film called The Matrix]
