qubiq room 5 by rotane qubiq room 5 by rotane
The qubiq-series continues!

This time I created a wallpaper for my dual-screen-layout (since I use 2 monitors for some time now). The full size picture has a size of 2560x960 pixel, it consists of more than 2.600 cubes (in comparison to the 700 of the previous qubiq room), and it took 13.5 hours to get rendered (on my 900MHz-t-bird) using cinema4d.

As always: comments welcome :)

update: I re-rendered the image on my new cpu in higher res (3200x1200), so enjoy!
Also, i told ya, the previous version did take 13.5 hours, this hi-hi-res one was done in only 7 hours *harr*

The complete qubiq rooms WP series:
:bulletred: the original blue qubiq room 4.0 (single screen).
:bulletred: hi-res detail qubiq room 4.2a dA special red (dual).
:bulletred: hi-res detail qubiq room 4.2a dA special blue (dual).
:bulletred: hi-res detail qubiq room 4.3 dA special grey (dual).
:bulletgreen: this one: red qubiq room 5 (dual).
:bulletred: copper-toned qubiq room 6.4 - MMM edit (dual).

You know, it is not okay. Taking someone else's work and using it for your own. Giving credit after the fact is not enough. This is the general rule that applies everywhere, including the internet – even if it is rarely enforced. (It's a different story when someone publishes their stuff under a special licence, like Creative Commons, which allows for re-use under certain conditions by other people, or when someone gives you explicit permission. My wallpaper was not published under any such rules.)

Fore more info on this, please read FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?

Anyway, this time i'll let it slide, so feel free to leave your deviation up. But in the future, i urge you to consider these rules; they are for your own good.

No I am a small time VST software developer who makes amp sims and such. I have a new cabinet softare coming out that allows you to move the microphone and cabinet around the room. I then do the calculations in real time and mimic what that would sound like...I would like to use your image for that.

Here is an example of what I mean..I am not using it yet or anything, I just simply did this image to show you graphically what I mean..

Either way man, you did a great job on this image...

Any chance you could hook me up with this wallpaper in a 3360x2100 version of this for my widescreen duals?

Not at the moment, no. I got it done at 3200x1200, and that took me about 7hours to render on the big 3400+ workstation. And now that I'm in Australia I only got the slower laptop with me. But I will be back home in October, that's when I can get it done - if you can wait that long :P

I do have however a similar one [link] done in 6000x4500px (for a big print), so I can crop you out a bit there if you want, and then colour it the way you like.

Btw, 3360x2100 res? How big a screen is that?

Yeah if you could email that 6000x4500 image to ipholio [at] gmail [dot] com then that would be awesome. :aww:

I'm running two 1680x1050 widescreen lcd's right now, it's how I roll...well, at least at work. ;) But I found out today I can get a huge discount through my company on monitors so I'm gonna buy the same thing for my home workstation.

Yeah I can sent that to you. Tomorrow (since I got it on the external drive at my current home, and I'm at work now).

But I'm curious, 2 screens each 1680x1050 make 3360x1050 by my count. :o Or are you gonna use 4?

Oww.. :petting:

Now, you wanna use this WP and slightly blow it up? Or should I still send you a crop of the blue one tomorrow? :)

Just send me the fullsize image you mentioned and I'll scale it down and recolour it, if you don't mind. :aww:

I love this, the feeling of entrapment and an odd sense of eternity...I love it :)

Great work. As I said, :+fav: by a not-so-stupid accident ;)

Note: I tried commenting on this piece earlier, but I think DA ate it (so forgive me if this ends up being a double-post). Anyhow… The color is superb, and the render is fantastically smooth with nary an aliasing artifact to be seen. Awesome work. Now all I need is a second monitor…

thanks for that nice comment! and dont mind the doublepost, happend to me the other day too, so..

i set Cinema4D to 8-12x antialiasing (that's why it took so long to render), only at this high setting the smoothness could be achieved

Great color. This is a spectacularly smooth render, there’s not a single aliasing artifact to be seen. Now all I need is a second monitor…

3200x1200 is still 2 screens, its just a higher resolution.
4800x1200 would be 3 screens

ooooooh, you're right!
i obviously didn't read your comment that well, sorry. :ashamed:

anyway, i don't know if i'll render it at this hi-res (yet), simply because my cpu isn't fast enough (yet) -- 2560x960 already took some 13 hours. but things will definitely look different when i got a new cpu (the quiestion is thou: when?) ;)
